I'm Now an Award-Winning Author!

It's been months since I last posted on my blog, and even I have a few future posts planned, I thought I should share this exciting news with everyone first!

So, yes - I'm now an award-winning author! My debut picture book 'Can You Hear Me, Daddy?' has won TWO awards in the Royal Dragonfly Book Award Contest! (Ok, make that 'multi-award-winning' :D) I submitted my application very last minute - a week before the deadline, and I had even forgot to send my book file in! They had to email and chase me up to send it in before the deadline! I entered in two categories - Picture Book 6 & Older, and Religion / Spirituality. I wasn't very hopeful, since it didn't get any placing in the Readers' Favorite Book Award Contest. (The competition must be fierce this year!) I thought it was a pipe dream, but I wanted to try my luck just one more time.

When the contest winners were announced, I didn't even realise! I had completely missed their email in my inbox when they sent it on December 1! (My inbox has been getting a lot of junk lately!) It wasn't until December 6 that I thought, the winners must have been announced already, and decided to have a look on their website. I scrolled through the list of winners, scanning the book titles and authors' names. I was at the end of the list and was feeling rather disappointed, and then I realised that there was still an eBook section - I had sent my book into the eBook category! I kept scrolling... and there it was - my book in 2nd Place under Picture Books 6 & Older! I kept scrolling to see the rest of the winners, and saw it again - 1st Place under Religion / Spirituality! I won in BOTH categories! I couldn't believe it! I quickly searched my inbox and found the email with the message informing the winners. It was truly the most exciting news I've received all year!
