Hi! Welcome to my website. I’m a new children's book author and have self-published two books! They are available on Amazon. (Scroll down for more information about the book and find the link to purchase a copy.)

I started writing my first book in February 2020 and three months later, it was published!

I hope to connect with a wider audience and I’m looking forward to sharing my future stories and books as they come out. Check out the blurbs of my books below, and some updates on my blog and Instagram.

You can find my monthly book recommendations on the Kids' Corner page - feel free to submit your own recommendations! There are also writing prompts and other fun activities there!

You can also find some supporting materials for my books on the Resources page including grief journal prompts. There are even some worksheets and other products related to English learning on the Books & Products page!

I was born in Hong Kong but grew up in sunny Brisbane, Australia where I had Christmas during summer and called everyone 'mate'. I returned to Hong Kong to teach English after graduating from university. When my father passed away, I took a break from full-time teaching to travel, read and write. I now tutor English and work freelance for different educational institutes.

When I am not writing or teaching, I am either reading or looking for more books to add to my overflowing bookshelf - Kindle and physical bookshelf included!

I love reading - a lot! I enjoy reading all kinds of books and try my best to read at least one fiction and one non-fiction book every month. I hope to help all my students develop their interest and love for reading and enjoy it as much as I do!

Reviews for

Can You Hear Me?

5.0 out of 5.0 stars

Y.Y. Chan's children's story, Can You Hear Me?, traces a young girl's journey through her father's illness and death. The young girl also shares her prayers, her faith, her growing lists, and challenging questions, like the understandable question surrounding her fear that she did something wrong to cause her father's illness. The journal entries include conversations with her father and his encouragement that she'll keep on writing and reading her stories to him, even when he's in heaven. It reinforces the bond of love as she and her mother recover from the loss and the painful ensuing grief. This is a powerful story that will help readers of all ages deal with their grief. Told with care and compassion.
